Outdoor Education

We offer the following programs in an outdoor setting with the application of experiential education models of learning. That means fun and interactive!!

Winter Travel- tips and tricks on not only how to survive outdoors in the winter but on how to actually LOVE the outdoors in the winter. Snow shelters, snowshoeing, fire building, snow tracking and snow studies are some of the learning objectives

Mountain Travel - day to multi-day trips in to the mountains are offered for those with little to lots of experience in the backcountry. Learn trip planning concepts, use of traditional and modern outdoor equipment, as well as important survival techniques and top it off with ethno-botany and wildlife ecology interpretation.

Gourmet Meals in the Wilderness- the best part of any outdoor experience is the tasty treats you can carry in your pack and enjoy at the top of a peak, or on the shores of a river or lake. You won't ever have to "rough it" again after this expedition food planning course. This evening course will give you the necessary skills to plan, shop, pack and cook "light" gourmet meals for any back-country excursion. There will be no need to eat beans in a tin again!

Orienteering- - Love the outdoors? Have no sense of direction? Afraid of being lost in the woods? Learn the basics of map and compass reading and practice in the field. As well, an introduction to modern GPS navigation techniques.

Recreational Avalanche Course: get certified in this Canadian Avalanche Association course that introduces participants to avalanche terrain recognition, snow study, hazard evaluation and decision making skills (Minimum 2 evenings 1 day).
